Man United Eliminates PSG in a Historic Win

March 07, 2019

Manchester United shockingly pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in football to send Paris Saint-Germain out of the tournament in a 3-1 win at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, 6 March.

United became the first team in Champions League (UCL) history to progress to the next stage in a knockout tie on aggregate after a 2-0 first leg home defeat. This was the comeback of all comebacks.

Romelu Lukaku scored twice in the first half but that wasn’t enough to keep United in the competition, they needed something more.

Thanks to a controversial VAR decision, United were awarded a penalty after a shot by Diogo Dalot hit the arm of Presnel Kimpembe, which prompted a review.

Rashford, who had never taken a penalty, showed nerves of steel and stood up to the challenge to beat Buffon and seal a 3-1 win for United.

Perhaps even more impressively, United pulled off this comeback with 10 first-team players unavailable. Unbelievable!
