Man City’s Mendy Undergoes Knee Surgery
Manchester City defender, Benjamin Mendy, has successfully undergone surgery on a knee injury he sustained.
The 24-year-old Frenchman – who made 12 appearances for the Citizens this season – missed the majority of last season after he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against Crystal Palace in September 2017.
He returned from injury in April this year, starting 12 of the club’s Premier League games this season.
However, after Mendy recently attended a clinic in Barcelona – where scans revealed that he required surgery – he was pulled out of the French national squad for their Nations League game against the Netherlands this Friday, 16 November 2018.
In a statement posted on the club’s website, Manchester City said: “That surgery was conducted on Wednesday evening and everyone at Manchester City wishes [Mendy] a speedy recovery.”
Mendy took to Twitter to assure his fans, saying: “Other knee was jealous but the operation went well and its all good now [sic].”
