Man City Title Dreams Fade

December 09, 2019

Manchester City has been left reeling after their 2-1 loss to Manchester United on Saturday, 7 December – with coach Pep Guardiola sitting in a tight spot.

In a post-match interview, the 48-year-old Spaniard said: “We not thinking to win the Champions League. We are trying to win games, to win the next one.”

His team has been able to bag goals, but their defence has consistently been a point of worry; in the past 16 league games, City have conceded 19 goals.

The reigning English Premier League winners have lost four games this season, netting them 32 points in total so far – 14 points behind Liverpool, who are top of the table with 46.

Guardiola commented on the points difference, saying: “The reality is we are 14 points behind for the mistakes we have done, for the quality of our opponents and especially, as well, the things we cannot control.”

City will next take on Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday, 11 December, in their final Champions League group-stage match.
