M.I.A. Criticised for Anti-Vaccine Tweets

Rapper M.I.A. has infuriated fans after she posted a series of controversial tweets amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The 44-year-old British rapper – real name Mathangi Arulpragasam – revealed her anti-vaccination stance when she took to Twitter on Wednesday, 25 March.

She first wrote: “If I have to choose the vaccine or chip, I’m gonna choose death.”

In response to the first wave of criticism, M.I.A. tweeted out: “Have a healthy life. Don’t live in fear!”

The “Paper Planes” hitmaker then tripled down on her stance, writing in another tweet: “Don’t panic you are ok [sic]. You are not gonna die. You can make it without stressing the medical systems. Just breathe. You are going to be ok [sic].”

She added: “You can make it through without jumping in the frying pan … all the vaccines you ve [sic] already had is enough to see you through.”

Despite facing hundreds of tweets calling for others to denounce her, M.I.A. lastly tweeted: “Cancelling is irrelevant!”

Time will tell if M.I.A.will change her mindset for the better during this tumultuous time.
