Louis Van Gaal Sacked, Mourinho To Move In
After much speculation and rumours, Louis Van Gaal has official been sacked as manager of Manchester United yesterday.
Van Gaal was let go of his position as manager a mere 2 days after Manchester United won the FA Cup against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Van Gaal has not spoken to much about his sacking to the media, but has only said that he is disappointed that he was asked to lead the club.
Van Gaal had a difficult two years at the helm of Manchester United, and only served out two years of his three year contract.
However, that means that there is a position open now at Old Trafford, and many believe that it is only a matter of time before former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, is named as the Red Devil’s new manager.
Mourinho has also made it clear that it has long since been a dream of his to manage Manchester United.
It also reported that Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is set to arrive in Manchester today to start talks with the club about Mourinho as manager. Many media outlets have already reported on talks between Mourinho and his agent and the club.
According to Peter Schmeichel, a former Manchester United goalkeeper, Mourinho will be a great fit for Manchester United.
Speaking to the BBC, he said that Mourinho will now finally have the opportunity he has been waiting for:
“…[sic] On the top of Mourinho’s list was always Manchester United, now he has the opportunity…Now they have a guy that is supposed to be the biggest manager in the world, the one that really could save Manchester United…It has been a brave decision but one that is long overdue,” he said.
Many media outlets are expecting an official statement as early as Wednesday regarding Mourinho’s appointment as manager of Manchester United.
