London Bridge Attack: Police Name 2 Suspects

June 06, 2017

London Police have released the names of two of the three suspects in Saturday night’s London Bridge attack, where seven were killed and 48 injured.

The UK’s National Counter-Terrorism Police Chief, Mark Rowley, released the names in a statement given to the media.

The two suspects have been identified as 27-year-old Khuram Shazad Butt and 30-year-old Rachid Redouane.

Both Butt and Redouane were shot dead by London Police eight minutes after they started their attack on London Bridge and the nearby Borough Market.

According to the statement by Rowley, Butt was born in Pakistan, but was a British citizen. He is believed to have lived in the suburb of Barking in London, the same suburb where police took several people into custody on Sunday following the attack.

Redouane reportedly ‘claimed to be Moroccan and Libyan’ and had also used another name, Rachid Elkhdar, with a different date of birth. Police have not been able to confirm whether he was, in fact, Moroccan or Libyan.

Reports suggest that police currently have 11 suspects in custody. They have also let a handful of people go without being charged.

Details surrounding those taken into custody, or whether they have been formally charged with anything, are yet to be released.
