Liverpool’s Mane Undergoes Hand Surgery

October 18, 2018

Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane, has successfully undergone surgery on a hand injury he sustained while international duty in Senegal this week.

The 26-year-old Senegalese player – who has netted a total of four goals for the Reds this season – suffered the injury while in training with Senegal.

As a result, he was held out of the national team’s 1-0 win over Sudan on Tuesday, a win that has secured them a place in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

In a statement posted on their website on Wednesday, Liverpool said: “The surgery, conducted at a north-west hospital [in Liverpool] and supervised by club medics, was successful.”

They added: “Mane’s recovery will be monitored over the next couple of days ahead of the Reds’ return to action at Huddersfield Town [this] Saturday.”

Jurgen Klopp’s team has lately suffered a spate of injuries – Reds forward Mohamed Salah, midfielder Naby Keita and defender Virgil van Dijk have all also suffered various injuries while on international duty this week.
