Liverpool Crowned Champions League Winners
Liverpool fans across the globe are in celebrations after their team bagged the Champions League trophy for a sixth time after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 on Saturday, 1 June, at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain.
The Reds were in control throughout the match; an early penalty score from Mohamed Salah and late-game goal by Divock Origi secured their place as champions once the final whistle blew.
The victory was emotional for many, including team manager, Jurgen Klopp, who celebrated the trophy parade with several fans.
It is the first trophy Klopp has picked up since joining the club as its manager in October 2015.
The 51-year-old German said: “I cannot really describe it because I cried a little bit as well, because it’s so overwhelming what the [fans] are doing.
He added: “You see in their eyes how much it means. It’s unbelievable and it’s so intense. Today, wow! It’s crazy.”
