Lion Kills Guide
A safari guide has died after he was mauled to death by a lion in the Hwange National Park on Monday.
Hwange is the same location as to where Cecil the Lion was killed in July and it is believed that the lion that killed the safari guide was also collared and being monitored like Cecil.
The park released a statement confirming the death of the guide and what lead to the guide being mauled:
“We confirm that a 40 year old professional guide was attacked and killed by lions in Hwange National Park. Investigations reveal that on August 24, Quinn, who was the lead guide, was on a walking safari with six foreign guests…[sic] He spotted fresh lion spoor and decided to track a pride of lions consisting two females, two cubs and two males. One of the lions known as Nxaha who was collared, jumped out at Quinn and all efforts to save him were in vain,”
The park continued saying that their condolences are with Quinn’s family and that he was a star employee.
