Lil Peep Dead at 21
Rapper and Youtube star Lil Peep has died in a suspected drug overdose at only 21-years-old.
He died yesterday, just hours before he was scheduled to perform in Arizona, his manager confirmed.
Peep, who was born Gustav Ahr, was a rising star in the music world. Ahr first rose to prominence in 2015 through SoundCloud and YouTube.
His songs “White Wine”, “Benz Truck” and “The Way I See Things” each have over four million views on the Youtube.
Ahr was known for his unique genre blending of hip hop with emo, and was called “the future of emo” by Pitchfork Magazine.
Lil Peep released his debut album “Come Over When You’re Sober (Part One)” in August this year.
Fellow artists, including Pete Wentz, Marshmello, Diplo and Rat Boy, have taken to social media to react and pay tribute to the rising star.
The rapper’s former girlfriend, Bella Thorne, posted an emotional video on Instagram, in which she called her ex-boyfriend “great as a person”.
During his life, Lil Peep spoke openly about his struggles with depression and addiction.
