Lil Nas X Pleads Not Guilty After Police Altercation

August 26, 2025

Lil Nas X has entered a not guilty plea to four felony charges following a dramatic incident in Los Angeles, California, last week.

The 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, is accused of three counts of battery with injury to a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. Police say they confronted him after responding to reports of a naked man wandering Studio City during the early hours of Thursday morning, 21 August.

Footage published by a local media outlet allegedly shows the “Old Town Road” star walking around in only white underwear and cowboy boots, striking poses and interacting with passers-by.

Officers allege Hill charged at them and reportedly punched an officer in the face more than once. He was later taken to hospital amid concerns of a possible overdose before being moved to jail. Bail was set at $75 000, conditional on attending drug treatment.

During a court appearance on Monday, 25 August, his lawyer Christy O’Connor defended him, telling the judge: “Assuming the allegations here are true, this is an absolute aberration in this person’s life. Nothing like this has ever happened to him.”

Hill is due back in court on 15 September for his next hearing.
