Leicester City Land Ex-Celtic Coach
Leicester City have announced the appointment of Brendan Rodgers as its new manager on a deal that will run until June 2022.
The appointment comes after the club sacked his predecessor, Claude Puel, last Sunday after a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace, which left the Foxes languishing in 12th place on the Premier League standings.
In a statement posted on their website on Tuesday, 26 February, the club confirmed that Rodgers “will take charge of the squad for the first time ahead of [this] Sunday’s trip to Watford.”
The 46-year-old North Irishman previously served as the coach of Scottish team Celtic, with whom he won seven domestic trophies in two and a half seasons. He also served as head coach of Liverpool, who sacked him in October 2015.
Speaking about his appointment, Rodgers said: “I’m very privileged and honoured to be here as Leicester City manager, and I’ll give my life to make the supporters proud of their club.”
