LEGO: From Building Bricks to Making Face Visors
A factory that produces LEGO-brand toys has now started making face visors for frontline healthcare workers in Denmark amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The LEGO Group is famous for creating plastic interlocking bricks and building sets – toy products which are loved by children and adults alike.
Posting a series of pictures depicting the visor-making process to their official Instagram account last Thursday, 9 April, the LEGO Group – whose factory is based in Billund, Denmark – announced the news.
They wrote in the caption: “We are so incredibly proud of the team who made this happen. They worked around the clock to create designs and make moulds that can produce more than 13 000 visors a day. We are grateful to have such talented, dedicated and caring colleagues.”
These visors can be used as “additional protection” by healthcare personnel working in high-risk, COVID-19 areas.
In addition, the LEGO Group is planning to donate 500 000 building brick sets to children in need during this time.
