Kyle Walker-Peters Goes to West Ham After Besiktas Snub

July 18, 2025

West Ham United are poised to complete the signing of Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer following his rejection of a Besiktas JK move.

The 28-year-old former Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur defender had been close to joining the Turkish club, with a medical examination scheduled in Istanbul. However, he requested additional time before travelling, prompting Besiktas to publicly cancel the deal.

“Kyle Walker-Peters has once again requested additional time… our club has cancelled the transfer,” the club said in a statement on Thursday, 17 July.

This opened the door for West Ham, long-time admirers of the versatile full-back, to step in. Chairman David Sullivan is understood to have been a key driver of the move.

Walker-Peters brings experience and consistency, having made over 200 appearances for Southampton across five seasons. He featured prominently in their recent English Premier League campaign after helping them secure promotion the year before.

He’s expected to slot into either flank of the defence line, complementing recent signings El Hadji Malick Diouf and Jean-Clair Todibo. The Hammers hope the England international will add steel and stability ahead of the 2025/26 season.
