Kristen Stewart Opens Up About Her Relationship with Robert Pattinson
Controversial movie star, Kristen Stewart, has talked openly about her relationship with ex, Robert Pattinson, for the first time since the pair split in 2012 amid a cheating scandal.
Stewart and her ‘Twilight’ co-star were Hollywood’s ‘it-couple’ for a number of years. With the enormous success of the ‘Twilight’ franchise – and with its two lead actors dating in real life – Hollywood and the rest of the world could not get enough of ‘Bella’ and ‘Edward’.
However, things turned ugly in 2012 when Kristen was photographed kissing director Rupert Sanders while the two were working on a movie together.
The scandal made international headlines as Stewart was still in a relationship with Pattinson and Sanders was married.
Fast-forward a few years, and it seems that Stewart has finally started living an authentic life, having come out as bisexual. She is currently in an on-off relationship with model Stella Maxwell.
However, Stewart says that, while she tried her best to keep her relationship with Pattinson out of the limelight when they were together, it became impossible and that it really annoyed her to have her personal life splashed across the tabloids.
“I hated it that details of my life were being turned into a commodity and peddled around the world. But considering I had so many eyes on me, I suddenly realized [my private life] affects a greater number of people than just me. It was an opportunity to surrender a bit of what was mine, to make even one other person feel good about themselves,” she recently told The London Sunday Times.
She explained that her relationship with Pattinson was different than her current relationship, and not just because she came out bisexual, but because the public seemed to watch her and Pattinson’s every move.
“When I was dating Rob, the public was the enemy—and that is no way to live. It [coming out] wasn’t this grand statement, ‘I was so confused! Now I’ve realized who I am!’ I have not been struggling,” she said.
More power to you, girl.
