Komphela Praises Chiefs Defence
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela has praised his side’s defensive display following their 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns.
The AmaKhosi returned to winning ways in the Absa Premiership with victory over the Brazilians on Tuesday evening.
Chiefs have been criticised for throwing away leads in the past, but Komphela thought his charges defended well.
“Overall, I thought it was a nice match for the supporters. End-to-end stuff with lots of aggression, lots of emotions and I also felt for the referees, these are not easy matches to handle,” Komphela told SuperSport after the game.
“First half, I thought we had about six chances. Just a bit of more belief. A belief that you are inside the box and you can take it and from there. Defensively, I thought we did quite well.
“Defence is so frustrating that you need to be disciplined under punishment. When you maintain the pressure and the discipline, that informs how you come out.
“Even in the dying minutes, I thought if we had picked the right pass, we could have got something but it’s football, there will always be things that you think ‘if I could, if I would’ but we should be happy with the result and we moving on.”
