Kompany Demands Former Club to Keep Guardiola
Former Manchester City skipper, Vincent Kompany, believes it is absolutely vital for the club to keep Pep Guardiola as its coach.
According to reports, Guardiola – who has served as the Citizens’ coach since 2016 – is contracted to remain at the club until 2021.
However, the 48-year-old Spaniard denied rumours that his contract contains a break clause, one which could potentially see him leave at the end of the current season.
In a recent interview with a soccer-based media outlet, Kompany – who left City in May to become player/manager of Belgian club, RSC Anderlecht – said that his former club must retain Guardiola’s services at all costs.
He explained: “If I was in a deciding position at City now, I would do everything I can to keep [Guardiola] for as long as I can. He is truly the best.”
Guardiola’s side is set to face Wolverhampton Wanderers this Friday evening, 27 December, at Molineux Stadium.
