Koeman Praises Spirited Everton

Everton’s manager, Ronald Koeman, has praised his team for their passionate performance in last Saturday’s match against West Brom, in which the Toffees won the game 3-0.

Goals from Kevin Mirallas, Romelu Lukaku and new signing, Morgan Schneiderlin, ensured that the Toffees walked away with a clean victory.

It was also Schneiderlin’s first goal for Everton since joining from Manchester United.

On the club’s official website, Koeman said that he was very impressed with his team’s performance.

“We played well, controlled the game and we were dangerous in certain moments of the game. The best thing, in my opinion, was the way we brought a lot of attention to how we needed to defend set pieces with how many tall players they had. We were outstanding in that aspect,” he said.

He continued, saying that the game was not as easy as it looked, and the fact that they could score three goals against West Brom was an excellent result:

“You get a lot of space to play just outside your own box but not 20 yards to their goal it is very difficult, so scoring three goals against West Brom is very good [sic].”

The victory ensured that Everton now only trails two points behind Manchester United in seventh place.
