Kodak Black Pleads Guilty to Firearm Possession Charge

March 16, 2020

Kodak Black has pleaded guilty on Thursday, 12 March, to the firearms charges brought against him.

The 22-year-old rapper – whose legal name is Bill Kapri – and three associates were detained on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana at the Canadian border crossing near Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada, last April.

US Customs and Border Protection officers say the men were in possession of the controlled substance, and a loaded pistol without a permit, when they tried re-entering the country.

In Niagara County Court, Kapri pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He might receive a sentence of between two and seven years in prison, when he is scheduled for sentencing on 24 March.

The “Roll in Peace” songwriter was previously sentenced in November last year to 46 months in federal prison for illegally buying a gun in Florida. The federal sentence will run concurrently with the new conviction once sentenced.
