Klopp: This isn’t PlayStation

March 04, 2019

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, has hit back at critics who think his team has not been taking enough risks on the field, by claiming that they are not playing a video game.

The Reds have been knocked off the top of the table for the first time since December after a goalless draw against Everton on Sunday, 3 March.

This is their fourth draw in the last six Premier League games that they have played.

In a post-match interview, Klopp was asked if he felt that his team could have been more offensive against Everton, perhaps by putting on another attacker.

The 51-year-old German responded angrily: “An extra attacker just to go wild? You think it’s like PlayStation; bring on an extra attacker and football changes? [Football is] not like that. We are offensive enough… We don’t lose our nerve.”

The seven-point lead that Liverpool had at the start of the year has been overturned by reigning champions, Manchester City, with nine games remaining.

Klopp insists that he is not worried about this, and that he is glad his team are still in the fight.
