Klopp Taunts Pep Over “Tactical Fouls” Ahead of Clash
The war of words between Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, and Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, is heating up as Sunday’s meeting of the two clubs draws closer.
The Reds’ boss has taken a cheeky stab at comments made by the City manager about Sadio Mane, turning up the tension ahead of their impending clash at Anfield on Sunday, 10 November.
The 48-year-old Spaniard claimed that the Liverpool star took to the ground too easily during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday, 2 November.
He said: “Sometimes [Mane] is diving, sometimes he has his talent to score incredible goals in the last minute.”
Klopp shot back, hinting that the Premier League champions relied on tactical fouls to gain an edge.
The 52-year-old German mused: “I am not sure if Pep spoke in that moment about Sadio or the team – both is not too nice to be honest.”
Liverpool currently sit at the top of the Premier League table at 31 points, five points ahead of the Citizens’ second place at 25 points.
