Klopp Hints at Takumi Minamino Debut

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, says that Takumi Minamino might make his debut this Sunday, 5 January, during the club’s FA Cup clash with Everton.

Minamino – who joined the Reds from Red Bull Salzburg in December 2019 for £7.25 million – was seen partaking in a training session with his team-mates on Tuesday, 31 January.

Although the 24-year-old Japanese forward is unable to feature in his new club’s Premier League match at home to Sheffield United today, Thursday 2 January, due to registration regulations, Klopp hinted in a recent interview that he might be involved in their upcoming match against the Toffees.

The German coach said: “This time we are not allowed, but from the next moment on we are thinking about putting [Minamino] in the squad.”

He added: “In this period of the season especially, there will not be 15 weeks until we use [Minamino]. Is he then the finished article in March? I don’t know.”
