Kim Kardashian Robbery Trial Begins in Paris Court

April 29, 2025

The trial of the 10 suspects accused of robbing Kim Kardashian at gunpoint has begun in Paris, France.

The heist – which saw the 44-year-old reality television celebrity bound, gagged, and held hostage during Paris Fashion Week in 2016 – resulted in the theft of jewellery worth roughly $11 million, including her $4-million engagement ring.

The group of defendants, aged between 35 to 78, face charges including armed robbery and kidnapping. Some deny involvement, while others, like 71-year-old Yunice Abbas and 68-year-old Aomar Ait Khedache have admitted their roles but deny being the masterminds.

Abbas, who acted as a lookout, has expressed remorse for his actions and promised to apologise to Kardashian in court.

The robbery unfolded when the armed thieves, disguised as police officers, entered the luxury apartment and found Kardashian alone and without security. The globally-recognised socialite has spoken about the trauma since then, and is expected to testify in court on 13 May.

The trial – which began yesterday, Monday 28 April – is set to conclude on 23 May. The defendants face up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
