Kelly Clarkson Sued over Unpaid Commissions

Kelly Clarkson is in the thick of it: not only is she in the process of getting divorced from husband Brandon Blackstock, but now she’s being sued by her longtime management company which happens to be run by father-in-law.

Starstruck Management Group – run by Narvel Blackstock – filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, 29 September, against the 38-year-old singer-songwriter, claiming that she owes them $1.4 million in unpaid commissions.

According to the court documents, Clarkson failed to pay the firm their 15 per cent commission on earnings received from her judging stint on “The Voice” and from her syndicated talk programme, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

The lawsuit further alleges that there has been no written agreement between the two parties since 2007 – the lack of contract could potentially lead to other claims being launched. Firm lawyers also allege that the “Since U Been Gone” hitmaker will owe the firm $5.4 million by the end of the year.

Clarkson and her estranged spouse filed for divorce in June after seven years of marriage. They share two children: daughter River Rose, and son Remington Alexander.
