Kelly Clarkson Snubs ‘American Idol’ for ‘The Voice’
Surprise! It seems that Kelly Clarkson has managed to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes as it was recently announced that the pop icon will be joining reality singing competition, ‘The Voice’ as a judge, instead of American Idol.
Earlier in the week it was reported that Kelly was to join her alma mater, ‘American Idol’, as a judge on their newly rebooted season.
However, it was announced yesterday that Kelly will be joining season 14 of ‘The Voice’ as a coach alongside Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.
The fourth and final coach for season 14 is yet to be announced.
The news of Kelly’s involvement with ‘The Voice’ comes a day after it was announced that Jennifer Hudson has signed on as a coach for season 13 of the popular singing competition.
Interestingly enough, Jennifer is also an ‘American Idol’ alumnus, having appeared on the show in it’s third season.
Do the producers of ‘The Voice’ have an agenda for poaching ‘Idol’ alumni?
Kelly seems to be excited to be a part of ‘The Voice’, though. In a statement, she said that she has been involved in talks of becoming a coach for years and that finally, the timing is right.
“I’m so excited to join The Voice at NBC…We’ve gone back and forth about a role as a coach for years, but the timing hasn’t been right until now. I have always loved appearing on the show as an adviser or performer and established an amazing relationship with the network during my Christmas special. I can’t wait to turn my chair and see the faces of up-and-coming artists and provide them with the help and support they’ve needed to break into the industry. Watch out Shelton, I’m comin’ to win!!,” she said.
Well we’re certainly excited about this news!
