Keanu Reeves, the Face That Launched a Thousand Petitions

June 20, 2019

The Internet is currently fawning all over Keanu Reeves, and the latest display of affection includes several petitions aimed at persuading Time magazine to make the actor “Person of the Year” for 2019.

The Canadian-American actor has been receiving huge amounts of social media attention following the release of “John Wick 3: Parabellum” in cinemas on 17 May. The film received positive reviews from critics and made $277.6 million at the box office.

It’s also been noticed by fans that the actor is particularly respectful when posing for photos with female fans.

The 54-year-old “Speed” star was completely unaware of his online popularity, or that he was given the nickname “the Internet’s boyfriend”. He called the unofficial honour “wacky”, but said “the positivity is great”.

To add to the Internet’s overwhelming fondness, a petition on Change.org to have Reeves declared Time’s “Person of the Year” has gathered over 44 000 signatures.

He previously graced the publication’s cover in 2003, several months before the third installment of “The Matrix” film series.

Reeves also stars in Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” as “Duke Caboom”, and is set to play a part in the upcoming video game “Cyberpunk 2077”.
