Kanye West Sued for $20 Million by E-Commerce Company
Kanye West has been hit with a hefty lawsuit by a company for allegedly not paying for the technology he used during his church services last year.
The 43-year-old megastar rapper stands accused of failing to deliver on his verbal agreement to partner up with – and invest $10 million in – MyChannel, Inc.
The enterprise describes itself as a black-owned media company that specialises in video and e-commerce technology.
According to court documents recently filed at a courthouse in Los Angeles , MyChannel’s legal representatives claim that the “Jesus Walks” hitmaker made a promise of a “significant financial partnership”, and are seeking $20 million in compensation for the breach of contract.
This also includes the claim that he walked away from the partnership after copying the company’s video commerce technology to benefit from merchandise sales of his Sunday Service shows.
For this so-called promise, they also relocated their headquarters from Pennsylvania to California, then back to Illinois again – the US states in which West’s clothing brand, Yeezy Apparel, kept relocating to. The company invested $7 million into the business venture.
West has yet to respond to the allegations.
