Kante Returns from Tour with Knee Injury

July 22, 2019

Chelsea defensive midfielder, N’Golo Kante, may be forced to miss the start of the 2019-20 English Premier League (EPL) season, after suffering a setback from an existing knee injury.

The 28-year-old Frenchman sustained the injury during an EPL match against Watford in May this year.

Kante was originally a part of the Blues line-up currently taking part in a pre-season tour of Japan. He was reportedly seen training with the team on Friday, 19 July – a day before they were set to face Japanese league side, Kawasaki Frontale.

However, a statement from the club revealed that the defensive midfielder was sent back to the United Kingdom “to continue his rehabilitation for an injury connected to the knee problem he sustained at the end of last season.”

Chelsea went on to lose 1-0 to Frontale, handing new coach and club legend, Frank Lampard, his first loss.

No doubt Blues fans will be keeping their fingers crossed for Kante’s return for the start of the new EPL season.
