Juventus Release Dani Alves from Contract
Italian club, Juventus, have formally released right-back, Dani Alves, from his contract with the Serie A champions.
The Brazilian international had one more year left on his contract.
This announcement arose amidst reports of a transfer for Alves to EPL Club, Manchester City.
Alves seems to be a favourite of Man City manager, Pep Guardiola. The two developed a good relationship between 2008 and 2012 when Guardiola was Alves’ manager at Barcelona.
Beppe Marotta, Juventus’ CEO, told Italian newspapers that the decision to let Alves go was a mutual one.
Alves has been very vocal about his desire to leave Juventus and possibly play in the English Premier League.
“Dani Alves has realised that he wants to try a different experience, we will consensually rescind the contract and we wish him all the best,” Marotta said.
The Citizens do not have any experienced full-back players for the upcoming season, so Alves’ timing couldn’t be better..
While widely reported that Alves will join Manchester City, there has been no official announcement from City.
