Jurgen Klopp in No Rush to Return to Club Management

April 24, 2025

Jurgen Klopp appears unlikely to return to the football manager’s seat before the summer of 2026, despite persistent rumours linking him with Real Madrid.

The 57-year-old former Liverpool boss is currently immersed in his role as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer, overseeing football operations across clubs in Europe, North and South America, and Asia.

Since stepping down from the Reds after a nine-year tenure, Klopp has invested his time in a more balanced lifestyle. Sources close to him say he’s thriving in his current position, which offers fewer day-to-day pressures than elite club management. His recent itinerary boasts multiple stops to meet affiliate teams, reinforcing his long-term commitment.

Speculation about a move to Madrid intensified after the club’s UEFA Champions League exit, with some reports suggesting he is a favoured candidate of co-founder Anas Laghrari. He is also seen as a potential successor to Real president, Florentino Perez.

However, Klopp’s agent insisted last week that he is “very happy” at Red Bull, a sentiment echoed by RB Leipzig coach, Zsolt Low.

As several top national teams may seek new leadership post-2026 World Cup, the German tactician’s next chapter could unfold on the global stage, but it remains unclear when, or if, he chooses to return.
