Jurgen Klopp: Coutinho Not Leaving Liverpool
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has said that there is absolutely no truth in the rumours that midfielder, Philippe Coutinho, will move to Spanish club Barcelona at the end of the season.
Rumours have been going around for the past month that Coutinho will make the move to Barcelona at the end of the current English Premier League season.
However, a fiery Klopp was quick to dismiss these rumours when reporters asked him about it recently.
“When did he sign his new contract?…There are absolutely no plans [to sell],” he said.
He continued, saying that Coutinho had recently signed a contract extension with Liverpool to stay with the club until at least 2020.
Klopp also said that they currently have a stable squad and that they do not have to sell anyone if they don’t want to.
“What our owners say is there is the absolute opportunity not to sell anybody if we do not want to. That means we can bring in other players and it is a good situation. We have a stable squad with a good basis…We want to bring a few in with fresh blood, but nobody will leave us without our say so I am completely relaxed about this,” he said.
Liverpool is currently third on the log in the English Premier League and has basically secured a spot in the Champions League.
