Jude Law’s Ex Addresses Chappell Roan Incident

March 24, 2026

Catherine Harding, the former partner of actor Jude Law, has publicly addressed a distressing hotel encounter involving her 11-year-old daughter, Ada, and pop star Chappell Roan. The incident, which occurred in São Paulo, Brazil, reportedly left the child in tears after a security guard confronted the family during breakfast.

According to Harding and her husband, footballer Jorginho, Ada, a dedicated fan, merely smiled at the singer while passing her table. Jorginho alleged that a “large security guard” subsequently approached them in an “extremely aggressive manner,” accusing the child of harassment. Harding noted that the guard’s “aggressive tone” was deeply upsetting, stating, “He even said he would file a complaint against them with the hotel.”

Chappell Roan responded via Instagram, denying any personal involvement or awareness of the interaction. She clarified that the guard was “not my personal security” and expressed sympathy for the family’s discomfort. “I do not hate children; that is crazy,” Roan stated. “I’m sorry to the mother and child… you did not deserve that.”

Despite the apology, Harding maintained that the guard appeared to be part of the singer’s traveling party. She emphasised the importance of celebrity accountability, remarking, “You have a responsibility when you are a celebrity that the people who work for you… are acting on your behalf.” Following the incident, the family chose not to attend Roan’s scheduled performance.
