Jude Law Joins Captain Marvel
Hollywood star Jude Law has joined the cast of the upcoming film, “Captain Marvel”.
The 44-year-old has signed on to play the male lead in the film, alongside Brie Larson who will star in the title role.
Captain Marvel will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and will follow Carol Danvers, whose DNA is combined with that of an alien Kree warrior, named Mar-Vell.
As a result, Danvers gains superpowers, including super-strength and the ability to fly, and becomes superheroine Captain Marvel.
Law is set to play Dr. Walter Lawson, which is the name that Kree alien Mar-Vell takes when he arrives on earth. According to reports, the role was first offered to Keanu Reeves, but he turned it down.
Captain Marvel was originally meant to appear in the Avengers: Age of Ultron script, but she was removed. The writers didn’t want to introduce her without first establishing her backstory.
Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury in the film, and Ben Mendelsohn has signed on to play the villain, for directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
Captain Marvel is set for release in March 2019.
