Jonathan Rhys Meyers in DUI Trouble
Jonathan Rhys Meyers has found himself on the wrong side of the law after he was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI).
The 43-year-old actor was involved in a car crash in Malibu, California, late on Sunday afternoon, 8 November.
Once local law enforcement arrived on the scene, they tested Meyers’ sobriety, but he failed the test and was subsequently arrested on the misdemeanor charge of DUI.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office, “The Tudors” star was released early the next day after posting bail of $5 000.
He is expected to appear in court on 25 February next year.
Meyers’ battle with alcoholism has been well-documented over the years, along with his checking into rehab several times: the first in 2005, and the latest stint in November 2011.
He last relapsed in 2017 when his wife, Mara Lane, miscarried.
