Joe Exotic Wins Minor Victory in False Arrest Case

April 17, 2020

The star of “Tiger King”, Joe Exotic, has won a small battle in the war against his alleged false arrest.

The 57-year-old former zoo operator – real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage – wrote a handwritten letter to the judge presiding over the $89 million lawsuit against the U.S. Federal Wildlife Service, in which he requested an extension to file an objection in the civil case.

In the letter addressed to Judge Suzanne Mitchell, the showman explained that he had “no access to a computer, phone, email or library.”

He asked for an additional 30 days to the deadline of 28 April, so he could adequately respond to the federal government’s requests.

According to legal documents, Maldonado-Passage was granted more time, giving him until 28 May.

He was convicted in 2019, and is currently serving 22 years for his involvement in a plot to murder his arch-rival, Carole Baskins, and killing five tigers at his Oklahoma zoo. He is imprisoned at the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
