Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara Become Parents
Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara have recently become parents for the first time, introducing a new baby boy into the world.
Rumours of the arrival date and gender had previously been doing the rounds once it was announced that the couple were expecting. However director Viktor Kossaskovsky claimed that the Phoenix was unable to promote the film “Gunda” because he had “just got a baby.”
The Russian filmmaker let the cat out of the bag while talking to the press at the 2020 Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland over the weekend.
While speaking about the film and how he got the “Joker” actor involved in it, Kossaskovsky casually said: “He just got a baby by the way … a beautiful son called River.”
It would appear that 45-year-old Phoenix and his 35-year-old actress wife named their little bundle of joy after the former’s late brother.
River Phoenix was an up-and-coming Hollywood actor who died tragically at the age of 23 from a drug overdose in October 1993.
Phoenix and Mara have yet to publicly confirm the birth news.
