Jay-Z and Meek Mill Send N95 Masks to Prisoners

April 06, 2020

Jay-Z and Meek Mill’s justice reform organisation has donated 100 000 face masks to prisoners to combat the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The US musicians provided the N95 masks via their REFORM Alliance organisation – a non-profit project they started up as a means of reforming the criminal justice system by changing laws and policies.

The advocacy group sent the equipment to the following correctional facilities: 40 000 to the state of Tennessee, 50 000 to Rikers Island, New York City, and 5 000 to Parchman, Mississippi.

REFORM Alliance shared the news via the group’s official Twitter account last Friday, 3 April.

Meanwhile, the organisation’s chief advocacy officer, Jessica Jackson, told a news outlet: “We’re really worried about the number of people coming in and out of the facility, and the fact that the people living there might be sitting ducks during this pandemic.”
