Jay-Z Addresses Kanye West Feud
Rapper and music mogul, Jay-Z, has addressed his feud with former BFF, Kanye West, for the first time, and it’s safe to say that there’s no love lost between the two rappers.
In case you missed what this feud was all about, here’s a quick recap.
In November of last year, Kanye went on a rant on stage during one of his shows where he called out Jay-Z for not reaching out to him as a friend. He also accused Jay-Z’s wife, Beyonce, of refusing to perform at the 2016 MTV VMA Awards unless her music video for ‘Formation’ won Video of the Year.
Shortly after the outburst, Kanye cancelled the remainder of his Saint Pablo tour and checked into hospital for ‘exhaustion’.
Jay-Z has never publicly addressed Kanye’s rant about him and his family, yet many believe that he does reference the incident and their friendship in the song ‘Kill Jay-Z’ off his new album, ‘4:44’.
Jay-Z was interviewed on the Rap Radar Podcast on Thursday, where he was asked about the Kanye feud.
The 47-year-old said that he believes Kanye went “too far” when he brought Jay-Z’s family into the mix.
“But what really hurt me, you can’t bring my kid or my wife into it. Like, Kanye is my little brother. He’s talked about me a hundred times. He even made a song called ‘Big Brother.’ We’ve gotten past bigger issues, but you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem [sic],” he said in the interview.
Jay-Z continued, saying that this is not the way he would’ve handled any conflict between himself West.
“[H[e knows he crossed the line. I know him. He knows. I know he knows because we never let this much space go between one of our disagreements. And we’ve had many,” he said.
However, not all hope is lost, as Jay-Z concluded the topic, saying that the two just need to have a “real conversation” and that it will happen soon.
Kanye has yet to address Jay-Z’s comments.
