Jason Momoa Implores U.N. to Act on Climate Change
Jason Momoa did not hold back during his speech at the United Nations, New York, on Friday, 27 September.
The 40-year-old “Aquaman” star addressed a high-level conference – including the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) of the Bahamas, Barbados, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Haiti.
Hawaiian-born Momoa ran through a list of issues facing the planet: rising sea levels, vanishing plant and animal species, persistent plastic pollution. He placed the blame squarely on those multinational corporations that put profit above everything else, and the politicians who enable their greed.
He made an emphatic and dire plea to the world leaders in attendance to take action against the forces threatening the environment.
Momoa said: “Island nations contribute the least to this disaster, but are made to suffer the weight of its consequences.”
He added: “When the frontline is gone, we are doomed. There is no undoing.”
