Jan Siewert Appointed New Head Coach of Huddersfield
Jan Siewert has been appointed head coach of Huddersfield Town, a week after David Wagner vacated his position as manager of the struggling club by mutual consent.
In a statement posted on their website on Monday, 21 January, the club confirmed that the 36-year-old German would take over the role.
Siewert previously served as Borussia Dortmund II’s reserve team coach before signing his two-and-a-half-year contract with Huddersfield, who currently rank 20th in the Premier League standings with 11 points.
Huddersfield chairman, Dean Hoyle, said of Siewert’s appointment: “When [Wagner] let us know he intended to step aside at the end of the season, we quickly moved to meet [Siewert]; his name was still at the top of our list of possible successors.”
Hoyle added: “[Siewert] feels he can build on what has been achieved here and add to it. We’re not ripping up what we’ve built here – we’re trying to add to it and take it to the next level.”
