Jake Paul Denies Looting, Vandalising US Mall
YouTube personality, Jake Paul, stands accused of looting a mall in the US state of Arizona over the weekend.
Following the recent murder of an African American man named George Floyd, demonstrations of both a peaceful and violent nature have erupted across the country.
According to reports, Paul was caught on film alongside a group of protestors who were looting and vandalising several shops at the Fashion Square Mall in the city of Scottsdale.
In a video clip that was posted by Andrew Blue – who is allegedly the 23-year-old YouTuber’s videographer – a masked Paul is seen outside the mall.
As the video progresses, a voice is heard saying: “These … idiots tear-gassed me … look at them pointing guns at me … yo, get me a free cologne!”
In a statement posted to Twitter on Sunday, 31 May, Paul denied that he partook in destroying property.
He wrote: “We spent the day doing our part to peacefully protest one of the most horrific injustices our country has ever seen, which led to us being tear-gassed for filming events and brutality that were unfolding in Arizona.”
