Iwobi Happy To Be Representing Nigeria

Young Nigerian football superstar, Alex Iwobi, has said that he is very proud to be representing Nigeria in international football matches.

The 19-year old, who has made quite the impression as of late playing for English Premier League side, Arsenal, has said that he has absolutely no regrets about playing for and representing Nigeria on an international level.

Iwobi was born in Lagos, Nigeria.

There has been talk about Iwobi representing England on an international level, but Iwobi put those rumours to rest as he said he is proud to be representing Nigeria:

“…I understand why some England fans are surprised with my decision…It was a difficult one to make, one I thought very carefully about. I have no regrets,” he told the media.

He continued saying that he was following his heart by deciding to play for Nigeria. Iwobi made his debut for Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a African Cup of Nations qualifier last month.

“…I have always been part of the England youth set-up and have 11 caps at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels. But when I was first invited by the Nigeria FA, my dad told me to follow my heart and that is what I have done,” he said.
