Harry Kane Names Champions League Title Favourites
Harry Kane believes Bayern Munich will be among the leading contenders for this season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) title, but pointedly left Arsenal off his list.
Fresh from lifting the German Super Cup with Bayern over the weekend, the England captain expressed confidence that the Bundesliga champions could be serious challengers in Europe.
Speaking to a Spanish sports publication on Sunday, 17 August, the 32-year-old striker named Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Liverpool as the main threats to Bayern’s ambitions. Arsenal, who reached last season’s semi-finals, were conspicuously absent from his predictions.
“I think this Champions League will be similar to every year… We will be one of the favourites. All the big teams will have their eyes on the trophy,” Kane said.
He added that his side is currently focused on making a strong Bundesliga start, with a home opener at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, this Friday, 22 August.
Kane also highlighted the need to sustain the same hunger and desire demonstrated in their German Super Cup title win. Having won two trophies in his first few months at Bayern, Kane is confident the German giants can push for UCL glory.
