Harry Kane Claims 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or
Harry Kane has secured the 2026 men’s Ballon d’Or, bringing an end to England’s 25-year absence from the podium.
The 33-year-old Bayern Munich forward became the first Englishman to lift the accolade since Michael Owen in 2001, outpolling finalists Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal.
The honour crowned an extraordinary campaign in which Kane netted 73 goals across all competitions for club and country, including a record 61 strikes for Bayern. Although he missed out on the Champions League and World Cup trophies, his relentless attacking display convinced voters to break standard trends.
Brazilian icon Ronaldo presented Kane with the trophy following a brief scheduling delay caused by metropolitan traffic.
Collecting the honour on stage, Kane reflected on his unorthodox rise: “I had to bide my time and work hard, a lot of times it was me against my own mind and I had to come through it, I had to show self-belief, determination.”
England manager Thomas Tuchel celebrated the milestone, remarking: “I ran out of superlatives to describe your performances a long time ago, but I’m delighted to see that you have now been formally recognised by the football world.”
