Gunners Legend to Take Unai Emery’s Place?
Arsenal’s first-team assistant coach, Freddie Ljungberg, is being touted as the leading candidate to replace Unai Emery as head coach.
Emery – who was appointed as the Gunners’ coach in May last year – is said to be under pressure from the club’s board after his side lost four of their last five games.
Arsenal managed to survive their encounter with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, 2 November, coming away with a 1-1 draw.
They are currently fifth on the Premier League log, sitting 14 points behind Liverpool.
Per reports, Ljungberg – who played as a winger for the Gunners from 1998 until 2007 – is ready to take Emery’s place should the club’s top brass decide to sack the Spaniard.
The 42-year-old Swedish legend has also helped nurture the likes of Joe Willock, Bakayo Saka and Reiss Nelson, and is said to be idolised by the club’s younger players and fans alike.
Time will tell if Arsenal will sack Emery and appoint Ljungberg in his stead.
