Guardiola: I’d Rather Retire Than Manage Man United
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has revealed with emphasis that he would rather quit football and live in the Maldives or play golf somewhere than coach Manchester United, even if it were the only job on offer.
Manchester arch rivals, City and United are set to meet today. Tuesday, 7 January, for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Old Trafford.
Guardiola has won the Carabao Cup for the last three consecutive seasons and will surely fight to keep the silverware, however, he’ll have to first overcome Man United, whom he has struggled against since his arrival at Etihad.
The Spaniard’s contract at City expires at the end of next season but rumours suggest that he could leave as early as the end of the current campaign.
When asked during the pre-match press if he could consider managing Man United in the future Guardiola said: “I will never train them. Like I would not train [Real] Madrid. I will be in the Maldives if I don’t have other offers or on the golf courses.”
