Griezmann Booed off Pitch
It’s been a difficult season for Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, who was recently booed off the pitch by his team’s own fans.
On Saturday, after failing to score in seven previous appearances, the pressure was on Griezmann to find the net, as Atletico went up against Real Madrid.
Unfortunately, Griezmann failed to score, and was pulled off in the 76th minute of the match. As he walked off the pitch, scores of Atletico’s own fans booed him.
According to reports, the 26-year-old forward has fallen out of favour with fans because he has been linked with repeatedly wanting to leave the club.
Griezmann was set to move to Manchester United during the summer transfer window, until it was blocked by a transfer ban placed on Atletico.
This season, Griezmann has been heavily linked to a move to Barca.
The French international has had his worst campaign so far in his four seasons with Atletico, who are in fourth place and 10 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona.
Los Colchoneros are also on the verge of their earliest exit from the Champions League since 2009.
In a move that might placate fans, Griezmann recently announced that he is happy at Atletico, and that he has no plans to move this January.
“I’m happy with my choice, even if I’ve gone seven games without scoring. It will come back”, he said.
