‘Gone Girl’ stays on top
Gone Girl won the battle of the box office with newcomer Dracula Untold to remain on top for the second week running.
The David Fincher adaptation came in with $26.8-million – down just 29% from its opening weekend – to hold off the latest Dracula film, which earned a solid, if not overwhelming $23.4-million.
Gone Girl has already raked in $78.3-million in just 10 days and is on track to be Fincher’s biggest earner.
Family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day came in third with a respectable $19.1-million, while horror prequel Annabelle, which enjoyed a big opening last week, dropped off considerably to earn $16.4-million.
The Judge – starring Robert Downey Jr and Robert Duvall – rounded out the top five for the weekend with $16.4-million.
