Glasner Confident as Palace Await Europa League Verdict

August 06, 2025

Crystal Palace manager, Oliver Glasner, remains hopeful that the club’s appeal against their Europa League demotion will succeed, ahead of a crucial ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) next Monday, 11 August.

UEFA previously relegated Palace to the Conference League, citing a breach of multi-club ownership regulations linked to former shareholder John Textor, who also controls French side Lyon. However, Palace argue that the deadline to rectify their ownership structure was incorrectly applied and that Textor’s recent exit has resolved the conflict.

Speaking to an international publication on Tuesday, 5 August, Glasner said: “We’re still confident that the appeal will be successful and that we will play in the Europa League.”

The CAS hearing is set for this Friday, 8 August, just two days before Palace face Liverpool in the Community Shield. Should the appeal fail, Nottingham Forest are poised to take Palace’s place in the Europa League, with the Eagles then entering the Conference League play-offs against Fredrikstad or Midtjylland.

Chairman Steve Parish has described the ruling as a “terrible injustice”, insisting Palace had never been part of a multi-club model.

As legal arguments are presented and emotions run high, Palace must now wait until after the weekend for the decision that will define their European campaign.
