FIFA Clear Man U in Pogba Transfer

June 21, 2017

FIFA have cleared Manchester United of any wrongdoing in the transfer of Paul Pogba from Juventus last summer, and have confirmed that no disciplinary proceedings have been opened against them.

Juventus, on the other hand, will be undergoing disciplinary proceedings following an investigation into the multi-million pound deal, out of which Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, is reported to have gotten £41 million.

The French midfielder returned to The Red Devils last year after leaving Old Trafford in 2012 and joining Juventus for £1.5 million.

Last month, FIFA asked both EPL clubs for clarification on every aspect of the £89.3 deal, especially in terms of who was involved in the deal, and how much they were paid.

The investigation was initiated after rumours of a breach of third-party ownership rules arose. Raiola has dismissed these allegations as fake news despite mentioning last year that, “Juventus was not the only owner of the player’s rights”.

“We can confirm that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Juventus FC. We cannot comment further as proceedings are ongoing,” said a FIFA spokesperson.

Should the Serie A team be found guilty of wrongdoing, the Italian champions could be fined or handed a transfer ban.
